I was recently browsing through a blog of one of my favorite web sites managed by Kevin McCormick called Obey The Pure Breed. Kevin writes social and political commentary and combines it, in a very clever way, with his passion for his pets and propaganda style art. He has a great little thing going there that helps support his family. We are a nation of animal lovers after all, and we devote a great deal of ourselves to our pets. Just look at the interest generated over finding out which type of dog will join the Obamas in the White House. Did you know there is actually a museum focused solely around the pets of our presidents?
Here in Tulsa and Northeastern Oklahoma, we don’t have a museum like that but we are fortunate to have two great organizations working diligently to help make us better humans. The Animal Rescue Foundation has been rescuing dogs and cats from area shelters since 1988.
Another organization is Homeward Bound Pug Rescue dedicated specifically to the Pug breed. Their mission is to place abandoned and rescued Pugs into loving and caring homes. Both organizations are non-profit, operated by volunteers that need our help and support. Check out their web sites and spread the word, “Canis lupis familiaris.”
